Six Steps/Thirty-Seven Changes Practice

Instruction on Preparation. Detailed instruction on the six components of Upward-Downward coordinated with breathing. Master introduces 6 x 6 + 1 powers, and continues with reviewing the six components of Inward-Outward. Master demonstrates applying Yin and Yang through the forms, and explains how to move into Charging Meditation Form and Drain Meditation Form and how to practice meditation forms with Chi. Class concludes with a review of the six components of Ward-Off/Roll-Back/Press/Push.

6 Factors: Open-Close; Stillness-Motion; Substantial-Insubstantial

After Inward-Outward and detailed instruction in Raised Hands Stance, Master present the six factors in Taichi: open and close, stillness and motion, substantial and insubstantial. Master covers changing sides in Raised Hands Stance and the transition to Taichi Stance. The class then hears an important analogy on following the Chi like a wave or river, and how to follow your breath or another person. Class concludes with instruction on the Bow as a form.

Stork Spreads Wings

After a quiet warm-up following Master Liao through several single forms, Master gives extensive detailed instruction on using the single form Stork Spreads Wings for Chi development.

Hands Attaching and Improving Your Taichi

After flow through Upward-Downward, Raised Hands Stance, Taichi Stance, Holding Taichi Ball, Turning Taichi Ball Right & Left, Twist Taichi Ball, Holding Taichi Ball, Hands Attaching, Master gives an insightful lecture on Hands Attaching, explanations from the Taichi Classics, and the notion of developing the "Perfect."

The Meaning of Flow

After giving in-depth instruction on Preparation, Beginning Stance and Upward-Downward relating to flow, Master gives a detailed lecture full of analogies on the meaning of flow. Master offers concrete tips on how to practice to generate flow. Sinking, floating, connecting and concentration are among the topics covered in the final class in this series.
