Best of Master‘s Class - Beginner's Package


For those new to Taichi or to Master Liao’s teaching system, we’ve preserved a few key sessions covering basic Chi concepts, and simple, easily practiced single forms. In addition, we’ve included an “All Flow” DVD so you can "follow-along" through a full 45-minute practice session like those held during all of our traditional classes at the Taichi Center.

Chi Flow Intensive Practice

An "all-flow" class where you can follow along in a typical Taichi Center warm-up of single form practice including Upward-Downward, Inward-Outward, Raised Hands Stance, Taichi Stance, Turn Taichi Ball, Twist Taichi Ball, Hands Attaching, Ward-Off/Roll-Back/Press/Push, Long Hand-Short Hand, Single Whip/Split, Charging Meditation Form, Drain Meditation Form, Water Form, Hng & Ha, and Bow. Do the best you can following along, even if the forms seem unfamiliar to you. You’ll learn about how to do each form on other DVDs in our system.

Twist Taichi Ball

After a brief warm-up of single form flow, Master gives in-depth instruction on forming Taichi Ball, Turn Taichi Ball, Twist Taichi Ball, and offers a demonstration on how to use Taichi Ball. These forms can help you build a basic daily practice that’s simple and easy-to-do. Class concludes with instruction on how to Bow.

Proper Chi Flow

After flowing through several single forms, Master lectures on proper Chi flow and the keys to Chi awareness. He also offers a diagram and talk on the Dan Tian, and an introduction to circulating the breath.

Raised Hands Stance Improvements

After a brief warm-up of single form flow, Master gives detailed instruction on Raised Hands Stance. Also enjoy instruction on transitioning into Taichi Stance, coming back into Preparation to close, and instruction on the Bow as a form.

Mind and Breathing: How to Increase Chi Awareness

Master reviews the six components of Upward-Downward and Inward-Outward, discussing correct hand position and breathing. There is also instruction on Raised Hands Stance and transitioning to Taichi Stance while cultivating Chi awareness. Master points out Yin and Yang power in Taichi Stance with a diagram. This DVD will challenge you and serve as a preview of higher-level teaching.

Programming Your System Through Raised Hands Form

Master reviews the six components of Upward-Downward and Inward-Outward, and setting up Bow and Arrow Stance and Raised Hands Stance. After this, Master gives extensive instruction on Raised Hands form. Listen to a critical discussion on faulty body programming and reprogramming for Chi movement.
